Expression vector permitting visual detection of recombinants when plated on skim milk iindicator plates by the loss or reduction of halo around a colony. Contains the signal sequence for the neutral protease, so that recombinants in-frame with the gene may be export. Constructed by an in-fram replacement of part of the pro-peptide coding region with part of the MCS from pUC19. The order of the major features in this plasmid is: nprE (signal peeptide coding region-MCS-pro peptide coding region-mature peptide coding region)-ori-kanR.
